Tanya McCarthy has taught English in Japan for almost 20 years. Her research interests are Learner Autonomy, Self-Directed Learning, Educational Psychology, Language Advising and Self-Access Learning. Her message to students is: Connect, Collaborate & Conquer! MATTHEW ARMSTRONG, M.ED.

Kyushu University

Professor Armstrong holds an M.Ed. in Curriculum Development and has taught at Kyushu University since 2006. His research interests involve evaluating student communication in English with respect to Lev Vygotsky's Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD), Learner Psychology, L1 Literature in the L2 classroom, Peer-review in Academic Writing and Curriculum Development. Workshops will be held during spring and summer vacations to improve skills for presentations, discussions, designing posters, writing abstracts and networking. Let's meet, share and discuss research with young academics and researchers around the world.

Friday 11AM-12:45PM

ILEARN PEER-2-PREPARE SESSION

Face-to-Face peer-sessions are held on Fridays in the Conversation Rooms. Receive feedback on presentations, research proposals or abstracts. You can also ask questions, practice interviewing skills, assist others with their research or discuss future plans in a supportive environment.

ILEARN CONFERENCE

Once a year in December, a conference is organized to showcase research being conducted by young academics and researchers. The style of presentation is poster sessions with a networking break between sessions. The conference is run by students. The date will be announced later.

Anytime - Anywhere

ILEARN TANDEM

The Tandem Program aims to build wider networks through face-to-face meeting or via Skype. Students are matched based on goals and interests. Students decide when to meet and what to talk about. The common language is English for Academic and Scientific Presentations.
